For your daughter’s safety, Cheer Coordinators place girls on squads based on both age and ability. As you can imagine, when girls are lifting and tossing other girls into the air and above their head, safety precautions must be strictly adhered to. All coaches are certified stunt instructors by the Eastern Conference Scholastic Cheer Coaches Association and follow PIAA Rules and Regulations as applicable to the Berks Inter-County Youth Cheerleading League. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to come to a monthly meeting and ask.
First Week of Practice:
Meet on the field adjacent to the Softball Field, across from the Education Center. Park in the High School Parking Lot. Each year, we conduct a mandatory parent informational meeting on the first day of practice, at 6:00 pm sharp. Girls will warm up all together. Please wear shorts, tee-shirt, and sneakers. NO JEWELRY, NO EARRINGS. Please do not get your daughter’s ears pierced at this time or throughout the season, or she will not be allowed to stunt. Hair should be pulled back in a ponytail or braid.
Typical Practice Schedule:
6:00 to 7:30pm (Flag 6-7pm)
Practices are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm throughout the season unless otherwise rescheduled due to the rain. Flag practice is 6 to 7pm. Games will be either Saturdays or Sundays depending upon which level your cheerleader is assigned to. Game schedules are NOT released until after Labor Day. This is due to football league team rosters being changed up until the Berks Brawl Tournament. Please be mindful that Governor Mifflin DOES NOT produce the game schedule, it is produced by the BICYCL League (Berks Inter-County Youth Cheer and Football League) and we will not know the official schedule until the League distributes the schedule to us.
Squad Assignments will be made on or before the first practice. Before girls can be assigned to a squad, they are evaluated for both age and ability. Once your daughter is assigned to a squad, you will receive additional communications directly from your SIPLAY account as well as from your coaches. Thank you for your cooperation.
Documents: Birth Certificate & Medical Consent
A copy of your child’s birth certificate is required by our league in order to verify age eligibility. Most of you will upload a photo of this document during online registration. If there are any issues, you will be contacted via email.
Please download and print the MEDICAL CONSENT FORM which is required by the first day of practice in order to participate in the Fall Cheerleading Season. Please be reminded that this form needs to be completed each year. Many local doctor’s offices require several weeks leeway in order to get these forms signed. Please plan accordingly.
Uniform Sizing and Handouts
Uniform distribution is announced in email communications after you are registered for the season. There is no registration at uniform pickup. In order to pickup a uniform, you must provide a post-dated check for $150 made payable to MBAA (Mifflin Broncos Athletic Association). Your check will be for a deposit for the use of the uniform. Please post-date the check for November 15, 2018 in the amount of $150. Your child will not be able to take a uniform home unless you provide a check for your deposit. This check will be returned to you when the uniform is handed back in after the season.
Additional Uniform Items
All Cheerleaders are required to purchase additional uniform items: crop-top, bloomers, and sneakers. Note: The sneakers this year are different from year to year. Links will be provided to these items which you may purchase online. Please be sure you purchase these items for your daughter by the start of practice, we will not have any ‘in person’ purchasing this year, you much purchase the items online.
